Product Overview
Epson Perfection V600 is a dedicated flatbed for digitizing film-based media. It suits photographers and archivists. It handles 35mm and medium-format slides, negatives, and prints. Maximum resolution reaches 6400 x 9600 dpi, enough to enlarge small negatives to prints as large as 17 x 22 inches.
Connection runs over Hi-Speed USB 2.0. Epson's ReadyScan LED technology skips any warm-up, saving time and energy. Four customizable buttons speed up scanning, copying, emailing, and PDF creation. The package adds film holders for 35mm slides and medium format, plus a transparency unit built into the lid.

Design and Build Quality
A built-in transparency unit sits in the lid, so film scanning needs no external adapter. The build feels solid, typical of Epson office gear. Lift the lid and you reach the scanning bed. It accommodates documents up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches alongside the film holders.
Inside the box: the scanner, transparency unit, film holders for 35mm and medium format, installation CD, setup poster, USB cable, and power adapter. Holders take four 35mm mounted slides or 12 negatives, plus medium format film up to 6 x 22 cm. Four customizable front buttons streamline repetitive jobs.
Performance in Everyday Use
Film scanning quality is excellent, helped by high optical resolution and Digital ICE, which strips dust and scratches without harming the image. It handles 35mm and medium format well, yielding sharp, detailed scans. At 6400 x 9600 dpi, resolution covers most archival needs. Enlarging to 17 x 22 inches is a real advantage.
ReadyScan LED means instant readiness and lower power draw. Bundled software such as ArcSoft PhotoStudio and Easy Photo Fix helps enhance images and restore faded photos. Speed, though, is not a strength, especially at high resolutions, so large batches test your patience. The software feels dated, yet it gets the job done.
Who Should Buy It

Alternatives Worth a Look
Epson Perfection V600 is a reliable choice for digitizing film and photos. High resolution and strong film handling make it a capable performer in its class. The built-in transparency unit and included film holders add convenience, while Digital ICE keeps scans clean. Two drawbacks stand out: no wireless connectivity and fairly slow scanning at high resolutions. If film scanning is your main need and quality matters, this scanner earns its place.
