Design and Build Quality
Beginners are the target here, so the layout stays clean and the grip stays comfortable. A 3.0-inch 921k-dot LCD shows images clearly and brightly. It is not touch-sensitive. Lightweight construction makes the body easy to carry for long stretches.
Bundled with the camera is the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. Vibration Reduction helps steady handheld shots. Compact by design, it pairs well with the body. Its focal range suits everyday shooting.
Performance in Everyday Use
That 24.2MP sensor, free of an optical low-pass filter, resolves fine detail. Native ISO spans 100 to 25600, covering many lighting conditions. Higher ISO settings can add noise. Continuous shooting hits 5 fps, enough for casual action but not fast sports or wildlife.
Autofocus stays reliable in good light. Thanks to its AF-P stepping motor, the kit lens focuses quickly. Covering wide-angle to short telephoto, the 18-55mm range suits landscapes, portraits, and general use. Battery life is not specified, though the included EN-EL14a battery is standard for this model.
Who Should Buy It
- Videographers or those needing advanced autofocus and high-speed shooting.
